Many atheists will use the Santa Clause debate when confronted by a person of faith who attempts to witness to them. They will say something like; I do not believe in Santa Claus. And the Christian will say something like; Well, neither do I.
But in further thinking on this concept the Fairy Tale of Santa Claus is very similar to the Biblical Story of Santa Claus. And we often say he is a God Fearing Man, meaning he is a man of faith and scripture. Many will say the Fairy Tale of Santa Claus is not an evil thing to teach kids and the Biblical Religion helps humans remain moral.
Ah, but we teach people to fear both and it is basically a method of control. We teach kids to fear Santa Claus to get them to be good to get a free gift, no not of eternal salvation, kids are more immediate in their needs, not such long term planners.
So instead of eternal salvation, we bribe them with toys to be good; "oh you better watch out, you better not pout, you better not cry I am telling you why, Santa Claus is coming to town" to basically give you free toys? And Religion is the same, be good in your life or go to hell? But I ask why does someone need to be scared to be good, why not do what is fair for all concerned because it is the right thing to do? See the point on this?
