As the land northerns, the more chances it has to be called the homeland of Santa Claus - or just the place, where he regularly passes through. On the threshold of Christmas time and New Year's time, the number of eyewitnesses announced that they have seen an old man in a red caftan in person, is growing.
It seems that Santa took his fancy to the Canadian city of Toronto. Otherwise, how can it be explained that more than a hundred years at the beginning of December he passes through the streets of the city accompanied by all his suite?
It occurred for the first time in 1905, when it was rumoured through Toronto that Santa Claus during his world tour would certainly drop in the shop "Fatons" placed in this city. The rumours was immediately caught up by pressmen, and it caused the public to pour out into the street at the appointed day and to observe admiringly the procession with Santa Claus at the head moving from rail road station to the shop.
Successful advertising course of the owners of the shop "Fatons" turned with age into the Santa Claus parade, one of the main sights of Toronto. The real procession of cars, carts and flatcars, each decorated in its own particular way, pass along the streets.
They carry Santa Claus himself and his numerous suite: trumpeters, heralds, elves, fairy-tale characters, animals, clowns, jugglers - and other characters, whose appearance is enthusiastically met by the townsmen and the tourists gathered for that show.
