How to Help Your Children Write a Letter to a Special African American Santa

A very special Santa Claus is busy this time of year reading letters, checking his list, and making sure the elves made the toys children are looking for. What makes this Santa so special is he's African American and still as jolly as ever. Since his list is so big, he just might forget the one gift your child wants the most.

The best way to make sure this special African American Santa remembers your child is to impress him with a good letter. Use the instructions below to help your child write a great letter.

1. Turn off the TV, shut down the computers, and ask your children to join you at the dining table.

2. Explain to them that this year they are going to write a special Santa Claus a letter to remind him how good they've been and make a list.

3. Give each one a pencil or pen and some writing paper.

4. Ask them to think hard about the gifts they want for Christmas.

5. Tell them to begin their letter with "Dear Mr. Santa". Here's what you want the children to also write in the body of their letters:

Gifts: "Santa, please bring me a computer and a bicycle." Make sure they say "please". Santa likes good manners.

Friends, cousins, or siblings: "Santa, my best friend Jason or cousin has been good to. It will be great if he got his wishes."

Activities or hobbies: "I practice my violin every day." "I hit a home run and we won the game." "I got good grades at school." "I'm nice to my sister or brother".

6. After they've finished make sure they thank Santa for reading the letter and for being generous.

7. Close each letter by writing "Sincerely" and have them sign or write their names.

8. Give the children envelopes and ask them to address them to: Santa Claus, P.O. Box 56099, North Pole, Alaska 99705-1099

9. Place the letters in the envelope, seal them, and thank the children for writing the letters and being considerate.

10. Tell them you are going to leave the letters next to the cookies and milk on Christmas night so he can read them while he's eating.
